Dalton Parks and Recreation is a dedicated team of professionals committed to enriching the quality of life of the citizens we serve by providing safe accessible recreational opportunities and facilities for thousands of families throughout the City of Dalton/Whitfield County.
Dalton Parks and Recreation has something for everyone. We provide diverse recreational activities. Our programs range from Youth Athletics (Drafted), Adult Athletics, Summer Camps, Exercise/Wellness Programs, Instructional Classes, Special Events, and Special Population Programs. Our staff takes great pride in the quality programs it develops. These programs are designed for people of all ages and economic backgrounds.
Our agency is responsible for maintaining over 644 acres of land, 12 parks, 26 athletic fields, 24 tennis courts, and 10 playgrounds. We operate the John Davis Recreation Center, the Mack Gaston Community Center, the Dalton/Whitfield Senior Center, and Nob North Golf Course. Dalton is growing and our agency is taking the steps to meet that growth. In 2012, we finished the first phase of a new Strategic Parks and Recreation Plan. This plan included two full size gyms, an artificial football/soccer field, the largest play ground in NW Georgia, a Splash Pad (water play ground), meeting spaces, an indoor 1/8 mile track, and a workout facility with state of the art aerobic and nautilus weight machines. With continued community input and extensive research, the comprehensive plan of phase 2 – 4 will be completed in future years.
Dalton Parks and Recreation was founded over 60 years ago by a special election of the citizens of this community, and we strive every day to offer the best customer service possible to the residents we serve.
To provide quality recreational athletic programs for the youth of Dalton and Whitfield County where participation, instruction, sportsmanship, and teamwork are achieved in a safe and enjoyable environment.
