Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center

4th of July Events

The Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center will have three days of celebration for our Country’s Birthday!

Beginning with Yankee Doodle Dandy Day “ONE” on Tuesday June 24th there will be some good ole fashioned party games  with prizes at 10:30a.m.  Then at 11:00a.m. The Carpet Capital Cloggers will perform their special Patriotic dance routines.

 

Yankee Doodle Dandy Day “TWO” will be held on Thursday June 26th with a special dance performance from the Trailblazers line dance team and Happy tappers beginning at 10:30a.m.

 

A special musical performance with guest vocalist Miz Judy Blackwell will begin at 11:00a.m.

She will be singing patriotic favorites as well as some country and other popular favorites.

 

Yankee Doodle Dandy Day “THREE” on Tuesday July 1st beginning at 10:30a.m. will be our grand finale July Fourth Celebration!  The Mar-Sel Tap Dancers will perform and there will be door prizes.

 

You will have an opportunity to win a prize each of the three Yankee Doodle Dandy Days by coming to the Senior Center dressed as the best “YANKE DOODLE DANDY” you can be!!  We will also take pictures (no charge) of all those dressed in their red, white and blue best!

Grief Support Group Program

New “Grief Support Group Program, Pathways Through Grief” with Amedisys Hospice on Thursdays at 12:30 PM starting April 24th- May 15. This is a free program.

Drawing and Painting Class

The Senior Center is offering a six week Drawing and Painting Class that will begin Monday, May 5, from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

 

The class is $30.00 per person. Please register by calling the Senior Center at 706-278-3700

Daily Events

A hot lunch is prepared and served from 12:00pm-12:30pm and the menus are available each week in advance so plans can be made.  The Senior Center also provides a billiard room and seasonal tournaments that are scheduled along with a card room, an exercise room, a TV and social lounge, a library, and a computer lab.  Each of these rooms are open daily when a class is not scheduled.

Bingo is held the first Tuesday at 11:00am of each month at Belk in the Mall.
