Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center

Ladies from the Senior Center are working on finishing the Golden Gaiter Walk quilt.  The quilt is made up of t-shirts from the first 20+ years of the popular outdoor event cosponsored with the Bradley Center for Wellness and the Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center.

The quilt will be unveiled at this year's walk on May 15th.  For more information call the Senior Center at 706-278-3700.

Stained Glass Class

The Stained Glass Class taught by Kitty Felker is back and will be held on Fridays from 1:00pm-3:00pm for a fee of $20.00.  The class will begin on September 12th.  Please call the Dalton-Whitfield senior Center at 706-278-3700 to register.

Bridge Lessons

The Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center will be offering beginner and refresher class lessons in BRIDGE.

Judy Kemp, Master Instructor, will be teaching this class beginning in September.

Need technology advice?

Students from the Northwest High School Service Learning class will be at the Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center each Wednesday from 11:00am-12:00pm to assist with any senior participants who need help with their electronic devices. This would include…Kindles, Tablets, Cell Phones, I-Pods, etc. You do not need to sign up for this program, just stop by the center at 302 Cappes Street, Dalton, Ga 30720.

Drawing and Painting Class

The Senior Center is offering a six week Drawing and Painting Class that will begin Monday, May 5, from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

 

The class is $30.00 per person. Please register by calling the Senior Center at 706-278-3700

Hand Building with Clay

The Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center has begun a new class "hand building with clay" with Amy Combs, Instructor and owner of Downtown Dalton's Pottery Playhouse.

Participants built baskets and coiled pots.  They will glaze their work and it will be fired as the final step.

The next "free" hand building with clay" class will focus on making Indian Jewelry.

This class will begin Friday September 12th for three weeks from 10:-11:30am.  To sign up please call the senior center at 706-278-3700

Senior Center Live Performances

The Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center's dance classes and groups perform in Dalton-Whitfield and in surrounding communities. 

They perform for Assisted Living Centers, Nursing Homes, Senior Clubs, Schools, and at community activities and events as ambassadors for positive aging and outreach to others.

Daily Events

A hot lunch is prepared and served from 12:00pm-12:30pm and the menus are available each week in advance so plans can be made.  The Senior Center also provides a billiard room and seasonal tournaments that are scheduled along with a card room, an exercise room, a TV and social lounge, a library, and a computer lab.  Each of these rooms are open daily when a class is not scheduled.

Bingo is held the first Tuesday at 11:00am of each month at Belk in the Mall.
